I want to go to boot camp for college benefits, how long will boot camp last for me to earn the college?
benefits? as of for the National Guard, how long does boot camp last in order to earn the college benefits?
Army basic training is 10 weeks - 1 week in reception and 9 weeks of training. Then there's AIT (training for your job) which can be 0-52 weeks long.
You don't get "college benefits" just for going to boot camp. You get educational benefits for enlisting in the military (which just happens to require going to boot camp).
The standard enlistment contract is for 8 years.
In return for those benefits, you agree that the United States Army can send you anywhere in the world, anytime they want to, to do whatever they want you to do. (usually a war)
You also agree that your state's Governor can call you up to go anywhere in the state, any time he wants, to do whatever he wants you to. (usually a national disaster event)
It is not a decision to be undertaken lightly or for the express purpose of "I want free college money" because that money isn't "free", you will earn it.
That said, I really enjoyed my time in the Army - I kept going back for more until they wouldn't let me stay any longer. Your mileage may vary.
